Health Alert:
Heart Failure Can Be an Early Complication of Type 2 Diabetes.
Heart failure occurs when the heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body's needs, leading to fatigue, shortness of breath, fluid buildup, and reduced ability to perform everyday activities. Among nearly 20,000 adults with newly diagnosed diabetes, approximately 1 in 20 people with type 2 diabetes developed heart failure within five years. These findings suggest cardiovascular risk assessment should begin early after diabetes is diagnosed.

Life's Crucial 9 Linked to Better Long-Term Health.
Life's Crucial 9 is a framework that measures nine key health behaviors and clinical factors, including nutrition, physical activity, sleep, tobacco use, body weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and kidney health. In a long-term study of more than 59,000 adults with metabolically associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), people with the highest Life’s Crucial 9 scores had significantly lower risks of major health complications, including cardiovascular events (38%), serious liver disease (38%), chronic kidney disease (46%), chronic respiratory disease (37%), all-cause mortality (33%), and cardiovascular mortality (45%).
