Contrary to the common belief that early risers are the healthiest, researchers found that both "morning larks" and "night owls" had a 50% and 40%, respectively, higher long-term risk of heart attack than people whose natural sleep schedule fell between approximately 10 p.m. to midnight and 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Unstable Resistance Training May Offer Benefits for Knee Arthritis Patients.
Researchers compared resistance training performed on stable versus unstable surfaces in older adults with knee osteoarthritis and found training on unstable surfaces led to greater improvements in static and dynamic balance, muscle coordination, and muscle stiffness after 12 weeks.

Daily Habits Linked to Musculoskeletal Pain in College Students.
Questionnaires completed by 9,100 university students revealed 58.7% had musculoskeletal pain, most commonly in the neck (43.6%), back (37.1%), and shoulders (36.2%). Further analysis identified the following as risk factors for musculoskeletal pain in younger adults: poor sleep, poor diet, sedentary behavior, long screen time, and low physical activity.

According to a review of evidence concerning more than 4 million participants from 15 studies, psychological stress is not significantly associated with developing cancer. However, depression, anxiety, and related distress are linked to a 23% higher risk of cancer-related mortality.

Brain Injuries Are Becoming More Common in Older Adults.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when a blow or impact to the head disrupts brain function, leading to headaches, dizziness, confusion, and problems with memory or concentration in the short term, and over the longer term elevating the risk of cognitive decline and neurological disorders. Using data from the Global Burden of Disease Study, researchers found an increasing upward trend in TBI incidence among adults beginning in their early 50s. The authors suggest this increase may be largely driven by falls, highlighting the importance of fall-prevention programs, home-safety modifications, and management of osteoporosis and frailty as part of an overall strategy to reduce the burden of TBI.
