Health Alert:
Anticholinergic Drugs Linked to Heart Risks.
Anticholinergics are a class of drugs commonly used in sleep aids, antihistamines, urinary incontinence medications, and some antidepressants that work by reducing the effects of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Because acetylcholine helps keep the heart calm and steady, long-term use of anticholinergics has been associated with up to a 71% higher risk of cardiovascular problems—particularly heart failure and arrhythmias.

Diet:
How the Ketogenic Diet May Reduce Seizures.
The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, very low-carbohydrate eating plan that shifts the body’s metabolism into a state of ketosis, causing it to burn fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. According to a recent animal study, when neurons rely on ketones for energy, it leads to structural changes in synapses within the hippocampus that improve the brain’s ability to control abnormal electrical activity. This finding may help to explain why this dietary approach has long been associated with reduced seizure frequency in individuals with drug-resistant epilepsy.

Exercise:
Add Exercise Snacks to Your Daily Routine.
Exercise snacks are brief bouts of activity—such as brisk walking, stair climbing, squats, or jumping jacks—used to break up sedentary time. These short bursts of movement can counteract the metabolic effects of prolonged sitting and help support blood sugar control, weight management, and cardiovascular fitness.

Chiropractic:
Potential Cause of Whiplash-Related Neck Pain.
Neck pain is a common symptom of whiplash, though identifying the exact source can be challenging. A literature review that included 49 studies reported that during a whiplash event, the cervical zygapophysial joints (facet joints) can sustain subfailure injuries to the joint capsule—microscopic strains that do not cause gross structural damage but can evoke pain and lead to persistent nociception and hypersensitivity in the nervous system. Chiropractic care is commonly used to manage facet-related pain by restoring normal joint motion through a multimodal approach that may include manual therapies, soft tissue techniques, patient education, and therapeutic exercise.

Mental Attitude:
Angry Teens May Age Faster.
Researchers at the University of Virginia report that adolescents who frequently engage in aggressive or confrontational behavior show adverse changes in cardiometabolic health by young adulthood—patterns consistent with accelerated biological aging. This may increase the risk of chronic disease and serious health events much earlier than expected.

Neuron Growth and Memory in Old Age.
Examinations of donated brain tissue from elderly individuals with exceptional memory, normal cognitive function, early cognitive decline, and Alzheimer’s disease revealed that seniors with exceptional memory had roughly twice the level of neurogenesis compared to cognitively normal individuals, while those with impaired cognition showed little to no new neuron production. These findings may open the door to treatments aimed at preserving cognitive function or even reversing decline.
