Health Alert:
Early Menopause May Be Risk Factor for Acute Coronary Syndrome.
Among 142 women aged 35–45 treated for acute coronary syndrome, researchers found that about one in four had already entered menopause. These women also experienced more severe disease and longer hospital stays. Because early menopause appeared several times more often in this group than expected in the general population, the findings suggest that entering menopause before age 45 may be an important—and often overlooked—cardiovascular risk factor.

Diet:
Phosphorus May Be Important for Metabolic Health.
Phosphorus is an essential mineral that supports bone strength, energy production, cell structure, and acid–base balance and is found in foods like meat, dairy, fish, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. According to an analysis of data from the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey, higher phosphorus intake was associated with up to a 56% lower risk of metabolic syndrome—a cluster of conditions including central obesity, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, and elevated blood sugar that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.

Exercise:
Physical Activity Is Important for Metabolic Health.
Older adults in poor metabolic health who increased their physical activity over a five-year period showed improvements in body weight, body composition, and insulin sensitivity, while those who became less active experienced worsening outcomes—highlighting the strong link between physical activity and metabolic health over time.

Hands-On Care for Cervicogenic Headaches.
Cervicogenic headaches are secondary headaches that originate from dysfunction in the cervical spine or surrounding neck structures. A systematic review and meta-analysis of 37 studies found that manual therapies—particularly when used as part of a multimodal approach—were associated with reductions in headache intensity and frequency.

Alzheimer’s Will Continue to Rise in Older Women.
Using data from the Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study, researchers report that the global burden of Alzheimer’s disease among older women has increased since 1990 and is projected to continue rising through 2040, largely driven by population growth and longer life expectancy.

Smart Shirt May Help Identify Young Adults at Risk of Sudden Cardiac Death.
While fewer than 1% of people have an inherited heart condition, these disorders are thought to account for the majority of sudden cardiac deaths in adults under 50. To help identify those at risk earlier, researchers at Imperial College London are developing a T-shirt embedded with electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors that can be worn for extended periods—potentially detecting subtle heart rhythm abnormalities that traditional, short-term ECG tests may miss.
