Healthy Lifestyle Reduces Stroke Risk in Hypertension Patients.
Among a group of more than 17,400 older adults with a history of high blood pressure, researchers observed that those who engaged in healthy lifestyle behaviors including not smoking, not drinking alcohol, getting adequate sleep, eating nutrient-dense diet, and getting regular exercise, had up to a 58.5% lower risk of stroke compared with participants who maintained an unhealthy lifestyle.

Acidic Diet May Be Obesity Risk Factor.
Using data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey, researchers found that individuals with a more acidic diet were 32–40% more likely to be overweight or obese, even after adjusting for obesity-related risk factors such as diabetes. These findings suggest that reducing intake of acid-forming foods—such as meats, cheeses, and refined grains—while increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables may help individuals with excess weight achieve a healthier body mass index.

Chiropractic:
Sacroiliac Joint Injury.
Dysfunction of the sacroiliac joint (SIJ), which connects the sacrum to the pelvis, can refer pain to adjacent areas of the body, including the lower back. Because symptoms of SIJ dysfunction overlap with those of other lumbar conditions, it is often overlooked as a cause of low back pain and disability. It is estimated that SIJ dysfunction contributes to 15–30% of low back pain cases. Through targeted mobilization, manipulation, and corrective exercises, chiropractic care may serve as an effective treatment option for SIJ dysfunction.

Treating Sleep Apnea May Lower Parkinson’s Risk.
A review of electronic health records of more than 11 million military veterans revealed that untreated obstructive sleep apnea doubles an individual’s risk of Parkinson’s disease when compared with sleep apnea patients who routinely use CPAP therapy. The findings suggest that consistent CPAP use may help protect brain health by maintaining oxygen levels during sleep and reducing chronic nightly stress on neuronal function.
