Nearly Three-Quarters of Adults Struggle with Daily Sleepiness!
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine reports that 72% of adults in the United States experience daytime sleepiness, which can negatively affect mood, stress levels, productivity, and relationships. The Academy notes that chronic daytime tiredness may signal insufficient sleep or poor sleep quality due to an underlying health issue, such as obstructive sleep apnea.

Diet:
Keto Diet May Have Role in Depression Treatment.
The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, very low-carbohydrate eating plan that shifts the body’s metabolism into a state of ketosis, causing it to burn fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. According to a recent systematic review, greater adherence to the ketogenic diet may provide modest improvements in depressive symptoms, suggesting this eating approach may have a place in a multimodal treatment approach for managing depression.

Air Pollution May Reduce Health Benefits of Exercise.
Fine particulate matter is a mixture of microscopic solid particles and liquid droplets suspended in the air, primarily generated by combustion sources such as motor vehicles, wood burning, and fossil fuels. While regular exercise is associated with numerous health benefits, a recent study found that these protective effects are significantly reduced when exposure to particulate air pollution exceeds 25 μg/m³. Although average air pollution levels in most American cities fall well below this threshold, fine particulate matter concentrations can temporarily rise above 25 μg/m³ during wildfire smoke events or prescribed burns, under temperature inversion conditions that trap pollutants near the ground, and during periods of heavy traffic near major roadways.

Chiropractic:
Treatment for Chronic Low Back Pain.
For individuals with nonspecific chronic low back pain, a recent study found that myofascial release techniques combined with core stability exercises are more effective for improving pain, lumbar range of motion, disability, and quality of life than stabilization exercises alone. Doctors of chiropractic routinely use these and other conservative therapies as part of a multimodal treatment approach for low back pain.

High Body Weight Variability Linked to Dementia.
A systematic review and meta-analysis including 16 studies found that high levels of weight fluctuation during midlife—defined as repeated shifts of 5–10% or more of body weight—are associated with up to a 40% increased risk of dementia. The authors conclude, “These findings highlight weight stability as a potential target for dementia prevention strategies.”
