Diabetes Raises Mortality Risk in Some Post-Surgical Breast Cancer Patients.
An analysis of data from the Danish Breast Cancer Group and Danish registries revealed that roughly 1 in 10 breast cancer patients experience complications in the month following breast cancer surgery. Of these patients, those with type 2 diabetes had an 11% higher risk for early death in the following decade than those without the metabolic condition.

Diet:
Eat Fewer Ultra-Processed Foods.
Ultra-processed foods are food products that include added sugars, fats, and salt to enhance flavor and prolong shelf life. Because these products account for the majority of daily calories consumed by the average American and are associated with poor cardiometabolic health, the American Heart Association urges consumers to reduce their intake of ultra-processed foods and replace them with healthier options such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and lean proteins.

Fitness Apps Promote More Physical Activity.
A study that included more than 200,000 adults found that those who used a fitness app that encouraged them to walk briskly for at least ten minutes a day increased their daily physical activity levels, potentially lowering their risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancers, dementia, depression, and early death.

Chiropractic:
Manual Therapies Improve Pain Sensitivity.
Increased pain sensitivity is common in musculoskeletal conditions, including chronic low back pain. A recent randomized cross-over trial found that a single session of either spinal manipulation or mobilization—manual therapies provided by chiropractors—produces similar immediate improvements with respect to mechanical and subjective pain intensity, which may help patients more easily resume their work and life activities.

Lowered Screening Age Improves Colon Cancer Detection.
According to a recent study, reducing the age for colon cancer screening from 50 to 45 has resulted in an increase in colon cancer diagnoses at ages 45 to 49. Researchers note these cancers are often in early stages when treatment outcomes are more favorable.
